A charming renaissance palace from the 16th century built upon the ruins of a dwelling from the 16th century. Featured in the facade of the house, remains the oldest Cobertizo, or Arab shed, in Eastern Andalucia.
The Carmen del Cobertizo (Arab. karm, vineyard), is a typical garden setting found in Granada , which is composed partly of a garden and partly of an orchard. Encompassing the garden walls you will find intense green ivy with rich flora. Placed on the foothill of Albayzín, this hidden gem will offer you a charming viewpoint from which you can admire the beautiful scenery and colourful panoramas.
In the garden, lies and old Arab style pool, where one can enjoy a delightful bath.
DESCRIPTION OF THE ROOMS:
The 5 rooms are located around the first floor gallery and patio. All of them still have his primitive charm and original decoration.
All rooms have central heating, bathroom, hairdryer, toiletries and Internet WiFi. Some of them have views to the Alhambra.
Suite Alhambra: If you want to enjoy the magic views of the Alhambra, this is your room.
It has a comfortable living-room environment with panorama windows where you contemplate the green forest of the Red Hill where Alhambra and Generalife is settled.
Jr Suite Cobertizo: Enjoy the room that gives the name to Carmen del Cobertizo.
A cobertizo means originally “shed of a room which functions as a bridge between two houses”, very typical in arab and andalusian architecture. This cobertizo goes back to XIV century and is the oldest in eastern Andalusia.
Double Special Alberca: What gives the name to this sky-blue room is the view to the alberca (sp. swimming pool) and the garden.
The latticed balcony is a ideal place to sit and admire the Alhambra and Generalife during the refreshing summer nights.
Double Special Huerto: If you like green spaces, room Huerto got beautiful view to the orchard and garden, a typical granadian space or Carmen (from arab. Karm, vineyard).
To open the doors to the latticed balcony is to enjoy the carmen with full intimacy.
TEPIDARIUM:
We have, in addition, our TEPIDARIUM (warm room in the roman baths). The therapist, Pedro Pérez Ortiz, and his team, from the Granadian School of Shiatsu, are expert in massages. We have installed a special room for them in Carmen del Cobertizo, where they offer their services.
