Carmen is a one women theater performed on the streets of Seville,
guiding you through the history and the monuments of the city.
Only
March to October
CARMEN
or the fascinating gypsy woman in the opera of Bizet, should
have lived her adventurous life, here in Seville in 1830.
But the original Carmen story, written by the French writer
Mérimé, after an Andalousian duchess told him
the rough version in 1835, is full of very concrete places
here in Seville. In case of interest, you can visit all these
places one by one in order to have an impression of Carmen´s
life.
But,
it would always be more interesting if Carmen herself could join
you and tell you her story in own person...
And dear people, you will not believe your eyes, but this is
possible !!!
Because Carmen never really died!
She still walks around here,
willing to tell you her story in the streets!
She
goes with you to the tobacco
factory where her story really starts.
Carmen will tell you about her colleague Don Juan, the Arenal
disctrict, the
bullring passing the Alcazar Palace, the Indian Archive
which has everything to do with Columbus and the discovery of America,
the Hospital of Charity, and the Triana district amongst others.
The walk
ends near the border of the
Guadalquivir river where Carmen was killed by her lover
and where she also reveals why her spirit never really died.
Carmen
offers you A LIVE ACT which is a mix of
Street theatre, story telling,
Sevillian legends and history,
singing, accordion playing and ... a lot of humor!
