The town of Alameda, Malaga provinceAlameda is located in the region of Antequera, in the north of the province of Malaga in a scenic setting of plains and open country, with its main wealth comiing from olive trees and cereals. Emblematic of the area is the Sierra de la Camorra and the Laguna de la Ratosa, both of which are listed as Nature Reserves. Only one monument exists here, the Church of Virgen de la Inmaculada (18th century). It has archaeological remains such as Roman baths, a Calolithic necropolis and the Fuente de la Placeta. It is also possible to visit the tomb of José María Hinojosa, El Tempranillo, the most famous of Andalucia’s 19th century outlaws. It is also possible to taste exquisite typical local plates in the restaurants of the area and to enjoy the various festivals. The most striking is that of San Isidro Labrador (May). Finally, it is possible to choose your accomodation right in the middle of the village. In 1833 the outlaw José María Hinojosa Corbacho, "El Tempranillo'', died here as a consequence of injuries suffered in a gunfight with old members of his gang of outlaws. His death was recorded in parish records, where it remains today. |

The villages, despite being in different provinces, are actually very close to each other (the greatest ditance is the 16 kilometres which separate Jauja and Alameda). The location of the Ruta del Tempranillo is priveleged due to its proximity to four of the big capitals of Andalucia: Granada, Córdoba, Sevilla y Málaga. It is also because the area is connected to most parts of this region by important main roads. Itinerary: Jauja - Badolatosa - Corcoya - Alameda |
