Natural beauty at los Caños de Meca
Los Caños de Meca and Zahora are both located in the municipal term of Barbate, between Barbateitself and Conil de la Frontera on the /costadelaluz" .]Costa de la Luz[/url] . Zahara de los Atunes, another town of Barbate municipal term with a splendid, is found "after" Barbate, towards Tarifa.
The beaches of los Caños de Meca are an example of the natural beauty and peace of Cadiz' coastline, which does not yet suffer from massive construction as do other spanish coasts.
From "el Faro de Trafalgar" up to the village of los Caños itself there is a variety of beaches to choose from. Most of them are nice and smooth, but at the far end of Los Caños the environment gets rougher, with cliffs and large rocks on the seashore.
The atmosphere
...is very relaxed: mostly small groups of young people, a few families. Los Caños is not very big, but in summer there are bars and restaurants, where you can have a drink, dinner, or go dancing. You can also simply enjoy a lovely evening stroll. |

The real "Caños" In addition to the beautiful environment, crossing the sometimes difficult "rocky" part, the beach offers another incentive. At the far end you find the authentic "Caños", small falls of sweet falling from the cliffs. This is where los Caños de Meca gets it's name from. This sweet water is the groundwater dropping from the cliffs that may reach up to 100 meters above the level of the sea.
Natural Park
El acantilado y pinar de Barbate natural park is one of the more important places to visit in Caños de Meca. You can practice riding horse, hicking ot cicloturism.
