Carchuna

The village of Carchuna, on the Costa Tropical Granadina coast, is located south east of Motril (10 km) and Torrenueva in the Llanos de Carchuna plain and on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Through time it has been a center of diverse cultures and now it is known for its beaches.

Bañada, with quality Mediterranean water and beaches that extend more than 4 km, invites leisure and peace in whichever time of the year, offering all different types of accommodations. A visit here will let you enjoy the fantastic beaches of crystal water: "La Chucha" and "Playa de Carchuna". The beach is perfect for those who don’t like agglomeration, like to practice aquatic sports, or hang glide.

This fundamental agricultural zone presents an absolutely characteristic landscape with its cultivation of "plastics": vegetables that are internationally exported. This has made a thriving economy of the people in this area.

The principal historical monument of Carchuna is the castle-fortress which was constructed in 1773 by the royal order of Carlos III. The lighthouse and castle rise to watch over the Mediterranean coast against attacks from the Moriscos.

La Fiesta de la Virgen de los Llanos is celebrated the first week of July with organized sport competitions, games for children and adults, food for all of the village and night festivals.

With this beautiful environment there are a variety of possibilities to practice sports. With the flavor of salt, possibilities arise that will make your vacation unforgettable such as fishing, diving, surfing, windsurfing and fly surfing for those who enjoy direct contact with the sea. Motril and its surroundings also invite all different types of sports adventures: hiking, sailing, surfing or windsurfing, horseback riding, paragliding, repelling , deep sea fishing, golf... the possibilities are infinite.
