Casarabonela is one of the villages which has best combined its Muslim and Christian pasts, preserving a good part of the original outline of the old Casr-Bonaira, and its Muslim heritage can be seen in every corner of this marvellous village with its white facedes and narrow, steep streets. The area of Arrabal is a reference to the rich legacy left behind by the Arabs in Qasr Bunayra.

Zona de La Alcorcal, en una cañada de gran belleza. Se accede desde el pueblo o desde la carretera de El Burgo.

The richness of flora and fauna in Casarabonela as well as the enormous variety in scenery enebled it to be integrated into the Parque Natural de la Sierra de la Nieves, which UNESCO declared to be a Biosphere Reserve in 1995.

The Parque Natural and Biosphere Reserve of Sierra de las Nieves is a natural paradise like no other in the Costa del Sol. This lively showcase, a model of the coexistence of man and nature, has rich natural pathways leading to the botanical star of the Sierra, and its emblem along with the Spanish Ibex, the Spanish Fir, a conifer considered to be the oldest of the indigenous Meditarranean Firs, which has the largest concentration in the world in this area.

Casarabonela, with its white houses in streets which snake around the slopes, preserves its Arab physionomy and also the colours and flavours of Andalucian villages, with examples such as the Town Hall with its small buildings and balconies decorated with lintels, its Chinese lanterns and clock on a pelota court, and houses in which there are frequently vaulted niches where prayers are offered to images of popular devotion. popular.

Its castle is also striking and from there you can enjoy some marvellous views. There are very few remains left of the castle, more specifically various towers and some canvases of the walls. Next to the castle is the church of Santiago Apostol.

Located at the low part of the village next to a stream you can find Puente Romano. Although its structure is modern, with pointed arch, it is from the mediaeval age and has been rebuilt at least twice.

Casarabonela is a village rich in unique customs such as La Pasión during Easter week or the Cruces de Mayo, or its celebration at the end of July in honour of the Apóstol Santiago, although the religious tradition which has become more well known is the Fiesta de los Rondeles. Every 12th of December the neighbours of the village go in procession to the Divina Pastora in the streets of the village to give thanks for the olive harvest.
