El Bosque

Situated in a magnificent setting looking out over Albarracín Sierra with the River Majaceite running through the town, the southernmost trout river in Europe, El Bosque holds the Provincial Beautification Prize.

Is located in the White Village Route and in the very heart of Grazalema Natural Park. 90 km From Cadiz and 60 from Jerez . 30 km From Arcos on the A-372 main road.

Declared a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco, Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park is located in the north east of the province of Cadiz and in the north west of Malaga, at an altitude ranging from 250 to 1,654 metres above sea level. A Special Protection Zone for Birds, the Park covers 51,695 hectares and is among the areas of greatest ecological importance in the south of the peninsula, and therefore of great significance in Spain as a whole.

The area around the town is noted for its natural springs and dense forests rich in game. This is an ideal location for fishing and hunting. The town also has a fish factory that produces excellent quality trout.

The town was founded by the Duke of Arcos who owned the Marchenilla Palace , around which the village grew. In 1815, Fernando VII gave it a town charter.

- Hotel Las Truchas: Small, charming hotel in the village of El Bosque, White Village of Cadiz, at the entrance of the Grazalema Natural Park. It has magnificent views from all rooms. This area is ideal for outdoor sports, hang glinding and excursions into the mountains.

It is one of the best places in Spain for hang gliding and a well-known championship is organised every year.

The town's most interesting monuments are: The Church of Ntra. Sra. de Guadalupe. 18 th -19 th century, The Ducal Palace. 15 th -16 th century, and The Rodezno Fountain. Symbol of the town's links to the milling of wheat and corn, its main economic activity.

Its gastronomic specialities are trout and cold cuts of meat.
