La Costa Brava of Girona

La Costa Brava, with the geographical limits of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, is a denomination, already classic, which corresponds on the coast with the province of Girona.

La Costa Brava, 30 km. from the capital of Girona, offers extraordinary places to discover in a frequently pleasant climate. Enjoy the environmental quality of this area by going to one of its singular beaches with clean and transparent waters.

The Parc Natural del Cap de Creus (Natural Park), Aiguamolls de l’Empordà (marsh) (and Illes Medes (archipelago), or the coves of Begur, Palafrugell, Cadaqués andTossa de Mar are some of the characteristics of this landscape. Do not forget the medieval nucleus ofPals, Peratallada andPúbol or the botanical gardens of Santa Clotilde, Pinya de Rosa and Marimurtra. The nature, climate and history seem to share in the creation of a strangely attractive environment, difficult to understand yet captivating with the blue, green and aquamarine of the waters and lush vegetation.

The 133 miles of coast extend from Blanes in the south to Portbou in the north on the French border, with the backdrop of the hills of Maresme and Montseny.

Beaches, coves, cliffs and forests alternate with world famous places: S’Agaró, Tossa de Mar, Begur, Cadaqués , Lloret de Mar and Portlligat. The modern tourist infrastructures along the Costa Brava make it one of the most highlighted tourist destinations in Spain.

Figueres

Figueres is the hometown of the great artist Salvador Dalí. However, it is also a very attractive town with shops, terraces, stately homes and much magic.

The indisputable pole of attraction is Teatre Museu Dalí (Dalí Theatre-Museum), where you can view works such as Galarina, El espectro del sexappeal, or la Leda atómica. There are also exhibitions such as Taxi lluvioso or Mae West room and recurrent obsessions such as Emporà roots or the figure of Gala.

Girona

Girona is also called the “City of the Four Rivers”. Discover the richness of its old part of town that is dominated by reminiscences of Medieval and Roman buildings, Arabic and Hebrew. It is in a fortified precinct of Força Vella where dates are given for peak works in history.

Its privileged location between Cordillera Pirenaica and Costa Brava provide numerous possibilities of excursions to villages as much as natural areas. Five ski locations (four alpine and one nordic) shape the most adventurous part of the Pyrenees of Girona: Guils Fontanera, La Molina, Masella, Vall de Núria, Vallter 2000. Also to highlight is Andorra which is approximately only 2 hours from Girona.
