Puerto Real

Puerto real is located 13 km from Cadiz city and 21 from Jerez de la Frontera on the Costa de la Luz. It is separated from the capital by a bridge over the Bay of Cadiz . The town's economy is based on the shipbuilding industry. The town's distinguishing feature from the rest of the Bay is the contrast between the seafaring life and its boats and the smell of the pine trees.

You Should not miss the Parque Natural Bahía de Cádiz, "Pinar de la Algaida", and "Paraje Natural Isla del Trocadero".

The Canteras Park is worth a visit, there you can find the Grotto of the Virgin of Lourdes, the town's Patron Saint. The park is surrounded by magnificent pine woods.

The town was founded by the Catholic Monarchs. It went through a boom period during the 18 th century until it went into downward turn in 1810 after the invasion of the French troops.

- Hostal Bahía de Cádiz: Located in the very center of Puerto Real, the neuragical center of the Bay of Cadiz. This city is situated at 9 kms from Cádiz, at 8 kms from El Puerto de Santa María, at 15 kms from Chiclana and at 20 kms from Jerez de la Frontera.

- Gran Hotel Ciudad del Sur: The Hotel is placed in the center of the metropolitan area of Cadiz Bay. The Hotel is the starting point of the "Ruta del Toro" (Bull Route), next to the "Las Canteras" Park.

Today Puerto Real is a lively cultural town. Throughout the year there are theatre productions, painting and photographic competitions, music festivals, cinema and poetry and art festivals.

The town also has good sports facilities, including an Olympic swimming pool, multi sport complex, etc...where important championships and tournaments are held.

- The Church of San Sebastián , 16 th century, a building with a mixture of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles.
– The Church of the Victoria . 17 th century. It has the most elegant tower in the town.
– The Church of Jesús , María and José. Neoclassic.
